Room to Breathe

"simply because you can breathe doesn't mean you're alive or that you really live."

You Tick Lump

First thing first, Tick One doesn't care what you think about him.  He rides motorcycles, drives awesome old cars, vandalizes property, and oh yeah creates awesome art.

It is hard to put a tag on what it is Tick does or what makes it so cool, but I love his blended style of street art, insanity, and cartoon characters.

I recently became aware of his work from an old car magazine and I have been lured in ever since.

check it out for yourself here.

And check out some of his stuff @ the Gasoline Gallery in El Segundo, CA on july 13th.

Where Are We?

For Toronto designer/artist Alex Mcleod fantasy has very much become reality.  Through overly fake looking and superbly crafted 3d fantasy landscapes, Mcleod takes the viewer into a childlike world where reality gets left behind.

The over the top scenes are clearly fake at first glance but also quite inviting and mesmerizing like polaroids of childhood dreams.  If these exhibits don't make the child in you jump then I am sorry to inform you...you are either extremely boring or you need therapy because your inner child is locked in a closet somewhere.

Prepare to be hypnotized by looking here.

The End is Near

"A life is either all spiritual or not spiritual at all. No man can serve two masters. Your life is shaped by the end you live for. You are made in the image of what you desire."

Makin' Money

Leave it to famed tattoo artist and visual artist, Scott Campbell, to make tearing up some currency appear cutting edge.  When Scott isn't permanently leaving his mark on clients at his uber-successful parlor, Saved Tattoo, he seems to be keeping the modern art world on its heels.

Scott recently exhibited his newest series, Make It Rain, which consists of several laser cut stacks of $1 bills.  Cutting up money for a living?  Not bad for a kid from the backwoods of Louisiana.

Keep an eye on what comes out of Mr. Campbell's brain here

My Friends Look Out For Me

Dust off your NewBalances, dig out those old army shorts, and Ben Gay those joints for some good ole' fashioned floor punching because, Ladies and Gentlemen, hardcore is back in town.

On May 28th, The Hundreds is releasing a small series of retro shirts as a homage to the Hardcore music scene.  Heavy Hitters like Civ and Chain of Strength will be the front runners of the graphic tee line amongst several other infamous names.

So the time has come to throw out the war-torn shirts from concerts past and revamp your dresser in modern style.

And another

Undoubtedly, Levon Helm did the best cover of Springsteen's "Atlantic City".  Makes me think of my Uncle Jim.

Enjoy....it's summertime.   there is plenty of warm air and dirty feet to be had.

Pardon the Interruption

So I took a break from life to catch my breath for a minute but I am back now.
It was such an amazing day in Philadelphia today and it made me think of this Rolling Stones song Sweet Virginia....  enjoy.

This is a great "back porch whiskey drinkin in the summer air" type of song.

I promise to start posting daily again starting.........now.
